Description
Reversing Vehicle Safety and the Role of the Banksman
Reversing accidents are a major safety risk in many industries, particularly in construction and heavy industry. This course focuses on reducing the likelihood of such accidents and highlights the critical role played by the banksman in ensuring safe vehicle movements on site.
The course begins by identifying the three main categories of reversing accidents—injuries to pedestrians, damage to objects or property, and damage to street furniture. It also covers other types of accidents that may occur during vehicle manoeuvres.
You’ll learn about the role of management in preventing these accidents, including the use of risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and providing the right Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The course also provides an overview of the legislation relevant to banksmen, before diving into the specific duties and safety protocols that banksmen must follow.
We’ll also cover the responsibilities of drivers, how they should work in tandem with banksmen, and provide you with essential vehicle hazard checks and industry-standard hand and verbal signals to ensure safe vehicle manoeuvres.
