Description
Around 25% of the UK population will experience a mental health issue at some point in their lives. While most of these are mild, short-term, and treatable, mental health remains a significant concern. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training equips participants with the skills to notice and support individuals who may be experiencing mental health issues or showing signs of substance use in the workplace. It also teaches how to connect those individuals to appropriate support, whether through colleagues, community resources, or healthcare professionals.
This course begins by introducing the concept of Mental Health First Aid, outlining the benefits of MHFA and wellness programs at work. It covers the effects of stress on individuals and teams and explains how stress is linked to mental health. The course then explores the roles of employers, managers, and employees in maintaining a successful MHFA program and provides practical examples of how to apply Mental Health First Aid to real-life situations. It concludes with guidance on how to support employees dealing with mental health issues and where to find further help and resources.
