I joined Northern Safety Ltd in April 2014 following a successful management career in varying sectors, including public services, manufacturing and construction.
I am responsible for the day to day management of the company, including supporting the consultancy and training functions of the business.
I have experience of supporting the HSE in accident investigations in my previous role as a Detective Inspector for Cleveland Police. I spent 5 years as a HSE Director for a large manufacturing firm involved in deconstruction and construction work, involved in on and off shore work.
I offer a pragmatic approach to supporting companies and individuals achieve best practice, not only supporting occupational health and safety but offering full business support including the achievements of recognised standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. I am a Chartered member of IOSH, an ISO lead auditor and competent workplace noise assessor.
I joined Northern Safety as a full time Health and Safety Trainer/Consultant in October 2016 after working for the company as a contractor through my own training company. I have 10+ years experience as a trainer/adviser within the engineering construction industry delivering a variety of courses from operative to management levels.
I am Nebosh qualified and a technical member of IOSH.
I joined the team in October 2018 as the General Health and Safety Trainer providing a high standard of training for our clients in a large number of Health and Safety disciplines. I have a proven track record with over 30 years experience as a trainer/instructor within the MOD and 15 years specialising in Health and Safety working in industries that include, Property Management, Offshore Gas/Oil, Logistics, and the Care Sector. I hold the Chartered Member of IOSH and I am passionate about promoting a positive safety behaviour culture through training, coaching and mentoring. Providing a refreshing, light-hearted, common sense approach to training both within the training centre or on-site to best suit the client.
I joined the company in July 2007 following an 18 year career in retail banking with the achievement of a HNC in Business and Finance.
My roles include organising and co-ordinating the training advisers, planning and reviewing training courses, dealing with training course bookings and enquiries for companies and individuals, ensuring accreditations are maintained, updating the website as well as general office duties on a day to day basis.
I joined the company in November 2010 as an NVQ Administrator, providing full administrative support to the NVQ Centre Manager. I offer advice and guidance where possible for many of the accredited card schemes within the Plant, Demolition & Construction Industries.
After a number of years I have taken on many aspects within the Training Department such as organising & co-ordinating courses, liaising with companies and individuals, as well as carrying out general office duties on a day to day basis.
I joined the company in 2012 as a Business Administration apprentice. I progressed on to achieve the NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety qualification with a credit and started a new role within the Consultancy department. Some of my day to day job roles include coordinating the Consultancy department, supporting a large retainer client base with Quality Management System and Health and Safety Consultancy, developing policies, risk and CoSHH assessments for clients and offering advice in line with current legislation. I am a Technical Member of IOSH and a qualified auditor / lead auditor for ISO 9001:2015.
I joined the company in April 2018 as a Health and Safety Consultant advising clients on all aspects of Health and Safety. I have over 20 years experience working in construction, transport, logistics, manufacturing, engineering, food and plant hire industry. Part of my role will include carrying out COSHH & Risk Assessments, Site Audits, Construction Phase Plans and toolbox talks whilst offering competent advice on legal compliance within the workplace.
