I joined Northern Safety Ltd in April 2014 following a successful management career in varying sectors. I have a wealth of experience in complex investigations including assisting HSE inspectors with accident investigation, change and behavioural management, auditing and offering professional health and safety consultancy services to the construction, manufacturing and demolition industries from across the UK.
I am also responsible for developing and delivering a range of general and specific training courses to our extensive and wide ranging client base.
I have been with Northern Safety since it started trading in 1998. My role within the business is Company Director and Training and Assessment Centre Manager. My role involves managing the business both on a day to day level and longer term planning the progression of the company. In addition I am a qualified health and safety consultant and competency assessor for the construction industry which gets me out onto a wide range of customers’ sites around the country carrying out health and safety consultancy and qualification assessments.
As a qualified Bookkeeper with Accreditation to the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers I joined the company in January 2005 as Office/Accounts Manager. My main responsibilities are all aspects of the accounts throughout the company, including purchase ledger, sales invoicing, credit control and wages. I am also responsible for general day to day office management, including arranging aspects of building maintenance and cleaning along with other general housekeeping.
I joined Northern Safety as a full time Health and Safety Trainer/Consultant in October 2016 after working for the company as a contractor through my own training company. I have 10+ years experience as a trainer/adviser within the engineering construction industry delivering a variety of courses from operative to management levels.
I am Nebosh qualified and a technical member of IOSH.
I joined the company in July 2007 following an 18 year career in retail banking with the achievement of a HNC in Business and Finance.
My roles include organising and co-ordinating the training advisers, planning and reviewing training courses, dealing with training course bookings and enquiries for companies and individuals, ensuring accreditations are maintained, updating the website as well as general office duties on a day to day basis.
I joined the company in November 2010 as an NVQ Administrator, providing full administrative support to the NVQ Centre Manager. I offer advice and guidance where possible for many of the accredited card schemes within the Plant, Demolition & Construction Industries.
After a number of years I have taken on many aspects within the Training Department such as organising & co-ordinating courses, liaising with companies and individuals, as well as carrying out general ofice duties on a day to day basis.
I joined the company in 2012 as a business apprentice completing my NVQ Level 2 & NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration. I have achieved a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety qualification with a credit and started a new role within the Consultancy department. Some of my day to day job roles include coordinating the safety advisers, organising current work for the department and assisting clients with their queries and offering advice. In addition to this, I manage most of the marketing for the company, maintain and manage the company website and social media platforms.
I joined the company in June 2004 bringing my experience from a varied background of working for some major Blue Chip Companies covering management, recruitment, training, quality auditing, NVQ assessment and health & safety. Previously achieving a HNC in Management Studies and gaining my health & safety qualification. I have three main functions within my role which are varied and cover co-ordinating the health & safety department and team, along with assisting with advising our clients and also managing the Company quality system to ISO standard.
I joined the company in April 2018 as a Health and Safety Consultant advising clients on all aspects of Health and Safety. I have over 20 years experience working in construction, transport, logistics, manufacturing, engineering, food and plant hire industry. Part of my role will include carrying out COSHH & Risk Assessments, Site Audits, Construction Phase Plans and toolbox talks whilst offering competent advice on legal compliance within the workplace.
I have worked at Northern Safety for 10 years now but before that I worked at Wilton International site for 36 years as a mechanical fitter and later as a maintenance planner for ICI, DuPont and Invista. As part of the consultancy team at Northern Safety I help deliver bespoke Health & Safety services to a wide range of clients in the Demolition, Asbestos, Construction and Manufacturing sectors.
My Health and Safety qualifications include Nebosh, SMSTS, CSCS, Workplace Noise Assessor and I am a member of IOSH.
I started working for Northern Safety in 2012, prior to this I spent a number of years working and gaining extensive experience in the asbestos removal industry. I now carry out all aspects of asbestos training, from awareness to licensed removal and also carry out general health and safety training, such as, Safety Passport, Abrasive Wheels and Demolition Operative Safety courses to name but a few.
