Safe Working at Height Courses in the North East

The Safe Working at Height training course is ideal for those candidates who are required to work at height during the course of their job, this includes managers, supervisors and operatives. The course will incorporate working at height regulations to the use of safety harnesses and everything in between.

Working at any height can be dangerous, therefore it is important that if you, or a member of your team are working at height, that you are aware of and understand fully the relevant regulations and safety requirements  so that any potential accidents can be avoided.

This course is a half day awareness course and can be carried out at our training centre in Thornaby or at a site of your choice providing all necessary facilities are available.

What does the course cover?

Over 2006 to 2007, falls from height accounted for 45 fatal accidents at work and nearly 4000 major injuries, they remain the biggest cause of workplace deaths and one of the main causes of major injuries. The Working at Height Regulations were introduced in 2005 and apply to all work  at height where there’s a risk of a fall which is liable to cause personal injury.

The Safe Working at Height course will consider the effect of the regulations and focuses on implementing safe systems of work when working at height.

On successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to…

  • Promote safety wherever employed to be working at height.
  • Work to reducing the risk of major injuries and accidents from working at heights.
  • Understand how to ensure compliance with well established safety procedures and current relevant legislation.

The course includes

  • Introduction to Work at Heights Regulations
  • Access and egress, loading places
  • Ladders
  • Landing places
  • Opening, corners, breaks, edges and joisting
  • Roof work (flat roofs, sloping roofs and steep roofs)
  • Fragile roofing materials
  • Safety nets, belts and harnesses
  • Equipment for working at height: Scaffold, MEWPS, Towers

The course is taught through a combination of classroom teaching, discussion and PowerPoint presentation.
