NEBOSH Certificates

The NEBOSH National General Certificate (NGC) is the most popular health and safety qualification in the UK, it’s essential for anyone wanting a career in health and safety. NEBOSH qualifications are mentioned in 90% of health and safety job adverts, which means people who hold the NGC have much better prospects. Holders of the NGC can apply for technical membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (Tech IOSH).

The NGC course that we provides focuses on practical health and safety management, this can be applied in your workplace and intensive examination preparation. Our pass rate is well above the national average, which means you’ll have a great chance of passing first time round.

Why do I need a NEBOSH National General Certificate?

The NEBOSH National General Certificate is valued by employers, gaining this qualification will boost your career prospects. Holders of the NGC can apply for technical membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Heath (Tech IOSH). Some students can then progress onto the NEBOSH National Diploma (Grad IOSH) and from there to chartered status (CMIOSH).

What kind of people take the NEBOSH National General Certificate?

Managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organisations who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues. No previous knowledge of health and safety is required. The qualification provides an excellent grounding in managing hazards and risks effectively. Many people take the NEBOSH National General Certificate as a basic step towards a career in health and safety with many going on to study at higher levels

The NEBOSH National General Certificate covers the main legal requirements for health and safety in the UK, identification and control of workplace hazards, and the practical application of this knowledge. Candidates should note the assessment includes a requirement to write a short report.

What is covered in the qualification?

The qualification is divided into two units, each of which is assessed separately:

  • NG1 – Is an open book examination (OBE) which enables you to sit your NEBOSH assessment on your own, usually in your own home or another safe and suitable location where you can concentrate.
  • NG2 – a workplace based practical application to assess what you can do

Resit cost would be extra if needed – £84 Plus VAT per unit

Entry Requirements – There are no specific barriers, in terms of academic qualifications, skills or experience to entry to the NEBOSH National General Certificate programme.  However, it should be noted that currently the assessments are offered, and must be answered, in English only.  The qualification includes a requirement to write a short report based on the candidate’s own workplace, which must also be in English.

Minimum standard of English required for candidates – The standard of English required by candidates studying for the NEBOSH National General Certificate must be such that they can both understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.  NEBOSH recommends that candidates undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International Language Testing System score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS in order to be accepted onto a National General Certificate programme. For further information please see the latest version of the IELTS Handbook or consult the IELTS website: http://www.ielts.org/institutions/test_format_and_results.aspx
