Training Overview

Northern Safety offers a comprehensive range of training courses for the construction/demolition and asbestos removal industries, encompassing general health and safety and specialist courses in asbestos and construction plant operation.

Northern Safety is a Construction Skills/CPCS accredited training provider and a City & Guilds Assessment Centre for the delivery of NVQ qualifications. Many of our trainers are members of IOSH and are approved to provide Asbestos, Plant, NVQ and General training.

Courses are delivered at the Northern Safety Centre, a purpose-built facility opened in summer 2007. The centre is airy, well-equipped and comfortably furnished, thus providing the ideal learning environment for both theoretical and practical training.

If you know what type of training you require, use the menu bar to scroll down to the relevant category.

If you are unsure what training your organisation requires, Northern Safety offers a free, no obligation consultation with a Training Advisor. The advisor can help develop a training strategy for your workforce, advise on the latest industry and legislative requirements, or simply tell you more about Northern Safety and the services we offer.

Many of our courses are eligible for Construction Skills training grants which are available In-scope / Levy paying companies.

Plant Training and Assessment

As a Construction Skills/CPCS accredited training provider and a City and Guilds Assessment Centre, Northern Safety can offer the full range of CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) plant training and plant NVQ qualifications, as well as our own in-house training and assessment.

Asbestos Training

Northern Safety offers a wide range of training specially designed for the asbestos removal industry, from courses that offer full training to inexperienced operatives (including practical training), through to a full range of supervisory and management courses. These courses are offered in Stockton, Manchester or at your location if required.

We also offer a range of asbestos awareness courses for construction companies, the construction services sector and for persons with responsibility for managing asbestos within work areas.

Following changes in legislation surrounding the management of asbestos in the workplace and governing persons who might come into contact with asbestos during their work, it is now a requirement for these people to have carried out formal training to heighten their awareness of asbestos materials that may be present within their areas of responsibility.

NVQs

Northern Safety Ltd can offer Plant Operator NVQ qualifications at Level 2 for a full range of construction and demolition plant machine operators. This qualification underpins the construction plant competency scheme.

We also offer Demolition Operator and Demolition Plant NVQs at Level 2. These competency qualifications also underpin the Certificate of Competence of Demolition Operatives Scheme (CCDO) and Construction Plant Competency Scheme for demolition plant.
