BANKSMAN – (REVERSING VEHICLES)

Any person responsible for assisting in the manoeuvring and loading/unloading of vehicles.Course Aims and Objectives
Every year a number of people are killed and injured by vehicles on company sites. According tothe HSE there were 165 fatalities to workers and 31 fatalities to members of the public between
2002 and 2005 caused by workplace transport on company sites. Banksman training ensures that
companies meet their legal requirements and reduces the risk of costly accidents. The course
raises the awareness of dangers caused when reversing and introduces practical techniques and
hand signals to assist drivers in this manoeuvre.
Content
The course includes:· The safe passage of reversing vehicles in confined spaces
· Identification of areas of danger within sites
· Demonstration of the HSE recommended code of signals
· Guiding large goods vehicles using the HSE guidance

The maximum number of candidates for this course is 8.Venue
This course must be carried out at a venue of your choice (such as a construction site for example). Their must be a safe and suitable area in which to carry out the practical training.Equipment required
· Classroom area with electricity supply and enough tables and chairs to seat all candidatescomfortably and allow our Instructor to set up his training equipment
· A suitable vehicle in order to carry out the practical training (i.e. a Telehandler for example)
