Slips, Trips and Falls 26-03-2008

The HSE's latest campaign - Shattered Lives - focuses on what can be the tragic consequences of apparently minor incidents. Slipping, tripping and falling are the commonest causes of accidents in the UK workplace and people might be inclined to think they are not important or major. However they cause significant amounts of serious injuries such as fractures, which can greatly affect the lives of the victims. The HSE campaign is aimed at five specific sectors - construction, building/plant maintenance, food and drink manufacture, food retail and catering/hospitality - where the problem is prevalent. However the message is really one for everyone - these accidents can shatter lives - but there are often easy things that can be done to prevent them.
