FIRST AID AT WORK – 3 DAYS

Duration: One day per week for three weeks

Who Should Attend?

Those who wish to deal safely and effectively with injuries or illness that happen at work.

Course Aims and Objectives

This course is ideal for workplaces that present few health and safety risks and where a
nominated person is required to take charge in the event of illness or accident. Fully qualified First
Aiders in larger organisations can also benefit from additional support from Appointed Persons.
This is especially relevant where the workplace is diverse and consists of many hazards that present injury risks to workers.

· Introduction to First Aid at Work.
· Resuscitation
· Respiratory Conditions
· Unconsciousness and the common causes
· Head Injuries.
· Back Injuries
· Wounds and blood loss
· Treatment of specific bleeds
· Injury to bone and soft tissue
· Fractures & Dislocations.
· Burns & Scalds.
· Poisoning.
· Eye Injuries.
· Transportation of casualty.

Training Method

Classroom based with practical continuous assessment by the trainer and written test on day four.
Successful candidates will receive a certificate valid for three years.

CITB Grant Aid

Training grant may be available to be claimed for CITB “in-scope” companies.

Maximum Number of Candidates

The maximum number of candidates for this course is 12.
