The aim of the course is to provide training for individuals wishing to obtain the necessary skills to drive a Crawler Crane.Content
• Identify the basic construction purpose and function of components and the purpose and use of controls and
gauges.
• Indentify and comply with manufacturer’s instructions.
• Carry out all pre-checks
• Configure the crawler crane for travel
• Explain relevant documents
• Set the rated Capacity Indicator and/or Load Radius Indicator
• Manoeuvre the crane in confined areas
• Set up the crane in order to lift various loads
• Lift, move and place loads from minimum to maximum radius using full slewing capabilities of the machine
• Recognise and respond to given signals and instructions
• Travel with suspended loads
• Place loads accurately
• Control Swing Loads
• Change the number of falls of rope on a hook block ( above 10 tonnes machine only)
• Explain Precautions to be taken for overhead services and other hazards
• Keep within safe working parameters
• Place in an out-of-service condition
• Explain loading and unloading procedures on and off transporter
• Explain rigging and de-rigging procedures when fitting a lattice type extension or fly jib (above 10 tonne machine only)
Maximum Numbers
A maximum number of 6 people can be trained at one time.Venue
The training can be carried out on any site, providing the following equipment is available:• Serviceable crawler crane that meets current legislation, with the operators manual
• Suitable loads of known weight, being:
o Load A: 1 x load which must be a minimum of 50% load at 75% full radius of the crane
o Load B: 1 x load which must be within the duties chart for 2 falls of rope
o Load C: 1 x load which must be within the duties chart for 3 falls of rope (above 10 tonne machines only)
• Classroom area which should have an electricity supply and enough tables and chairs to seat all candidates comfortably and allow our Instructor to set up his equipment.
• An area with facilities for crane travel and parking
