Risk Assessments
The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations require every employer and self-employed person to make a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to the health & safety of his employees whilst at work, and the risks to others not in his employ who may be effected by his undertakings.
In addition where the employer employs five or more employees (including part-time staff) then he has to record the findings.
We can assist you by preparing a risk assessment to suit your needs.
For further information on risk assessments please contact our H&S consultants.
Method Statements
Method Statements are essential in the preparation of construction and demolition. It has been a legal requirement since the introduction of the Health & Safety at work Act 1974 to provide safe working procedures. Whether tendering for work, protecting your employees or protecting the public there is now a great emphasis placed on recording safe working methods. We can assist you in the preparation of method statements.
CDM (Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007)
The CDM 2007 Regulations came into force on the 6th April 2007. A few of the main changes are highlighted below:
- Regulations are re-ordered to group duties together by duty holder and to show whether individual provisions apply to all projects, only notifiable projects, or only non-notifiable projects. (The definition of 'Notifiable' is unchanged, but the application provision relating to fewer than five workers on site has been removed).
- Work for domestic clients no longer needs to be notified.
- The client's agent and developer provisions are removed.
- The role of planning supervisor is replaced by the CDM Co-ordinator to support and advise the client and to co-ordinate design and planning.
- The appointment of a CDM Co-ordinator, principal contractor and a written health and safety plan are only required for notifiable projects (but demolition work requires a written system of work).
For further advice on the regulations please contact our health and safety consultants.
